The South Whitley Town Council on Sept. 10 authorized its town attorney to prepare public notices and handle an upcoming auction related to two separate downtown assets.
Council members discussed an interested buyer, identified in the minutes as Mr. McCarty, for properties at 206 and 208 S. State. Attorney Greg Hockemeyer is drawing the purchase contract and will publish the required public notice; once the contract is finalized he will forward it to the clerk for council review before any sale is completed.
Separately, Attorney Hockemeyer reported that the town will hold a public auction for old downtown light poles with a minimum opening bid set at $200 and a pre-bid viewing of the poles. The council voted to authorize the attorney to manage the auction and continue the notices; the minutes record the motion passed 2-0.
No sale contract was approved on Sept. 10; further review and formal council action are required after the attorney circulates the finalized documents.
