The South Whitley Town Council on July 23 approved a project to reorganize electrical lines serving Town Hall after a request from IMPA to remove obsolete circuits. Utility Supervisor Kent Slater said some circuits have been in place for many years and are no longer needed. Brock Waterson moved to accept project option 1, which includes a 3‑phase GOAB and the use of funds from dedicated services; Trey Weber seconded and the motion passed 2‑0.
On sewer concerns, Slater said he pumped roughly 12,000 gallons into the Line Street sewer line and found no issue on the town’s side. He advised property owners to contact Miller Sewer and Drain for further diagnosis and repairs.
Why it matters: The electrical reorganization will remove obsolete circuits and update service to Town Hall; the sewer test indicates the immediate problem is likely on private property rather than town infrastructure.
No timelines for electrical work were provided during the meeting.
