Spring Grove board sets 2025 clerk‑treasurer salary, approves vouchers

SPRING GROVE, Ind. — The Town of Spring Grove board approved routine business and set pay for the clerk‑treasurer at its June 10, 2025 meeting at Quaker Hill Conference Center.
Board members Doug Brenneke, Zane Carrell and Robert Erbse voted unanimously to approve the May meeting minutes after Zane Carrell moved to approve and Robert Erbse seconded. The board also approved vendor payments of $566.02 to RP&L for streetlights, $2,000 to BBFCS for half of the annual attorney retainer, and $625 to Rinehart's for mowing and trimming.
Clerk‑Treasurer Jenney Holthouse reported a bank balance of $807,988.66 as of May 31, 2025, and said she and town attorney AJ Sickmann will check with the Economic Development Corporation on how Spring Grove’s portion of EDIT funds is remitted.
After discussion, the board agreed that the 2025 salary for the clerk‑treasurer position will be $10,000, with a one‑time retention bonus of $2,000. The board directed Attorney AJ Sickmann to prepare the updated salary ordinance.
Planning Commissioner Jeff Holthouse told the board that Oak Drive has been paved near Brickyard, resolving a citizen complaint, and suggested the Reid wall bearing the Spring Grove insignia needs repainting or other attention; the board authorized him to investigate options.
The board reviewed a previously suggested public works director position and, after considering comparable roles across Indiana, tabled further action for possible later review.
The board scheduled a July meeting at the regular time. With no further business, Carrell moved to adjourn; Erbse seconded and the meeting ended at 7:20 p.m.
