St. Paul council reviews police, fire and utility reports; authorizes routine maintenance and payments

The St. Paul Town Council reviewed monthly reports from the town marshal, fire department and water/sewer operator and authorized several routine maintenance and payment items.

Town Marshall Josh Kuntz reported March activity including 12 calls for service, 8 warnings, 2 citations and 1 arrest; staffing-hours reported were 80 hours for Kuntz, 16.5 for Joey Roberts and 17.5 for Austin Fleener. The council asked for a spreadsheet to track police activity.

Fire-department information read by Joshua Sangl recorded 18 active members, 13 calls for service in March and 50 combined training hours; Sangl also noted a fundraising breakfast April 5 and that a grant-funded AED has been ordered.

Water/sewer operator Les Day reported no violations in March, preventative maintenance on well No. 2, and replacement of a meter antenna and a meter on well No. 1. Day said the town currently lacks a line locator and recommended soliciting quotes to purchase one next month.

The council authorized issuing a check to Miller Equipment to release a repaired tractor once the official invoice is received by the Clerk-Treasurer. Russell Boles requested additional gravel at the dumpster area and removal of trees to improve haul access; Tim Ray moved to permit purchase of gravel and tree removal, Kim Livingston seconded, and the motion passed.

During new business, Gladys Pike asked the council to remove a painted no-parking edge in front of the historical society; the board took the request under consideration and made no decision at the meeting. The council adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
