The Transylvania County Board of Commissioners approved a series of routine motions and appointments during the May 11 regular meeting, voting unanimously on agenda and consent items and on several appointments.
Commissioner Larry Chapman moved to approve the agenda as presented; Commissioner Jake Dalton seconded the motion and the Board approved it unanimously.
The consent agenda was approved on a motion by Commissioner Chase McKelvey and a second by Commissioner Chapman. The consent items included approval of the April 27 minutes and proclamations designating May 17–23, 2026 as Emergency Medical Services Week and May 25, 2026 as Memorial Day.
Appointments and reappointments approved unanimously included reappointment of Zachary West and waiver of term limits to reappoint Steve Tabor to the Agricultural Advisory Board; appointment of Mary Shore to the Council on Aging; reappointment of Commissioner Chase McKelvey and Amanda Vanderoef to the Personnel Board; and reappointment of William Smith to the Workforce Development Board.
On the disposition of unsold foreclosed property, the Board accepted the highest electronic auction bids for three county‑owned lots in Connestee Falls and directed staff to finalize sales. Bids accepted were: Lot 23, Unit 19, Usdasdi Drive — $3,950; Lot 109, Unit 29, Ugugu Drive — $3,825; Lot 74, Unit 5, Tsisqua Circle — $3,750 (total $11,525). Commissioner Jason Chappell moved to accept the bids; Commissioner Jake Dalton seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:09 p.m. on a unanimous motion by Commissioner Chapman, seconded by Commissioner Chappell.
