Resident thanks Hickory council for new sidewalk, urges pedestrian and bike committee

During public comment at Tuesday’s Hickory City Council meeting, resident Bob Post thanked the city and named staff and council members for a newly completed sidewalk along 12th Avenue NW that improves pedestrian and bicycle access to the Hickory Trail and riverwalk.
"I want to thank you on behalf of many neighbors ... excited they are to have this pedestrian and bicycle access," Post said, and urged the council to consider creating a standing city committee focused on improving safe pedestrian and bicycle access throughout Hickory one small project at a time.
Mayor Guest and council members thanked Post for the recognition and encouraged residents to contact council members directly if they have further ideas. The comment was taken under the council’s regular public‑comment rules and required no action.
