The board approved multiple University of Mississippi Medical Center items on the real‑estate and finance agendas, including acceptance of Greenwood Leflore Hospital and a major increase to the Cancer Center Research Institute budget. Board staff said the Greenwood property (about 14.5 acres) will be transferred to UMMC without cost, that the site had a phase I and phase II environmental review and that the phase II assessment did not find evidence of significant petroleum release. Trustees approved acceptance of the donation.
Separately, UMMC sought permission to increase the Cancer Center Research Institute project budget from $5 million to $250 million; the board approved the increase and approved appointing Cannon Design Group as the design professional. UMMC also clarified that funding sources for the expanded project will include the $100 million provided by the legislature in Senate Bill 3051 (Laws of 2026) along with other sources identified in the project materials.
Board staff reviewed legal and environmental materials and recommended approval for both items. Trustees approved the measures on the record.
