Melinda Brown, President of the Chamber of Commerce, proposed converting the Gulf Station into a more visible Chamber location that would sell souvenirs and help market the county arena. Chairman Lee Boone said the county would require a memorandum of understanding and would remain responsible for utility bills. Commissioner Larry Hooks moved to approve the request; Commissioner David Walls seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
On arena guidelines, Chairman Boone presented proposed fee increases and directed the county attorney to update user fees and guidelines; after extensive public comment the board tabled any decision until the next meeting on July 27, 2021.
On the county auction, Commissioner James Perry sought an update. Chairman Boone reported that Mr. Green stated the auctioneer would charge a 10% commission and a 5% buyer's fee and that a list of items for sale would be available by the end of the week or the following week. Commissioner Gwen Caldwell asked when the item list would be posted. Commissioner Larry Hammond requested a list of purchases Chairman Boone had made since taking office; that request was noted but no timeline for response was recorded.
The meeting included no public comments apart from the arena discussion and concluded with a unanimous vote to enter executive session and then adjourn at 11:13 p.m.
