Clare County commissioner announces retirement; board sets applicant deadline and interview dates

The board discussed the replacement process and unanimously set an application deadline of July 2 for candidates from the retiring commissioner's district. Commissioners agreed to hold interviews on July 7 starting at 9:00 a.m. and, if necessary, July 8 at 1:00 p.m., with a goal of appointing a replacement at the July 15 board meeting. The administrator said the vacancy notice will be posted on the county website and published in the newspaper in accordance with statutory notice requirements.
The retiring commissioner said they will remain active in the community as a resident and voter and thanked colleagues for the opportunity to serve. The board moved and carried a motion to adopt the interview schedule so the clerk and administrator can publish the vacancy and begin accepting applications.
