LPRB members recap WCCoG presentation, urge neighboring municipalities to pursue preservation programs

Program Coordinator Laura Brown and board member Vince DiFilippo reported to the LPRB that they presented the board’s formation and work to the Western Cumberland Council of Governments (WCCoG) on July 8, 2024. The presentation described the Silver Spring Land Preservation Review Board’s structure and encouraged other jurisdictions in the council to consider establishing collective land preservation programs.
Board members in attendance at the July 8 presentation included Frank Evelhoch, Rob Shaw, Gerald Boyd and Sharon Wevodau. The minutes say South Middleton Township’s manager is willing to meet with LPRB staff to discuss land preservation and that the Capital Region Council of Governments has also expressed interest in hearing more about the program.
Board members noted that communication with neighboring townships and regional councils is ongoing. No formal commitments or intergovernmental agreements were recorded at the July 18 meeting; the discussion was characterized as outreach and follow-up actions to schedule meetings with interested municipalities.
