Medora School Board approves calendars, grants, extracurricular sponsors and senior class trip

On Nov. 11, 2024 the Medora Community School Corporation board recognized October R.E.D. students and unanimously approved minutes, payroll, federal and state grants, two academic calendars, extracurricular sponsor appointments and an out-of-state senior class field trip.
The Medora Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees met Nov. 11, 2024, and approved a slate of routine school actions, including calendars, grants and extracurricular appointments.
Principal Kara Hunt opened the public session by presenting October’s R.E.D. students — Damean Salas, Kryshawnah McCory and Teddy Rose. The board then took a series of unanimous votes on routine business.
Tony Hall moved to approve the minutes from the Oct. 14, 2024 meeting; Darrell Persinger seconded and the motion carried 5–0. Ada Reynolds moved to approve claims and payroll as submitted; Persinger seconded and the motion carried 5–0.
Mr. Bane presented the monthly budget and extracurricular reports for the board’s review; the reports were received without recorded change. The board approved an out-of-state field trip requested by the senior class after a motion by Faythe Gill and a second from Tony Hall; the vote was 5–0.
The board approved recommended extracurricular sponsors and coaches for the coming year. By motion of Ada Reynolds, seconded by Darrell Persinger, the board approved Bobbi Derheimer (Senior Class sponsor & Beta Club sponsor), Dalea Johnson (Junior Class sponsor), Leah Young (Sophomore Class sponsor), Riley Morris (Freshman Class sponsor), Stormy Powell (junior high girls basketball), Braxton McCory (junior high boys basketball), Brycelyn Yost (FFA), and volunteer cheerleading coaches Brooklyn Wilkerson and Laykin Hinderlider. The motion carried 5–0.
Tony Hall moved to approve the 2024–2025 federal and state grants as submitted; Faythe Gill seconded and the motion carried 5–0. The board also approved the 2025 School Board calendar (motion by Darrell Persinger, seconded by Tony Hall) and the 2025–2026 school calendar (motion by Ada Reynolds, seconded by Faythe Gill), each by unanimous vote.
There were no donations and no public comments recorded. The meeting was adjourned following a motion from Faythe Gill, seconded by Ada Reynolds; the board voted 5–0 to adjourn at 5:16 p.m. The minutes were signed by Secretary Faythe Gill.
The actions taken were routine approvals of administrative and extracurricular items; no personnel actions were taken during the executive session noted at the start of the minutes.
