At its April 21, 2026 meeting, the Town of Marlborough Commission on Aging moved forward with planning for the Marlborough Senior Center’s 25th anniversary. The commission decided to invite Kevin Haggerty and COA member Deb Bourbeau as local guest speakers to focus on the senior center’s history and its current role in the community.
Members were assigned specific tasks to solicit quotes and arrange on-site logistics: Donna Kane and Dianne Greco were assigned to get quotes for live music or a DJ; Shoshana Merced was tasked to contact an ice-cream truck; Donna Mosher to find a 50-by-75 tent; Peggy Golfin to handle beverages; and a COA member to arrange port-o-lets. The commission discussed borrowing chairs from the school, using the school parking lot, organizing a raffle and setting up lawn games.
Chair Peggy Golfin reported the COA’s letter regarding the senior center budget was delivered to the Town Manager and the Board of Selectmen; the next budget meeting is scheduled for April 27, 2026. Several event-related items (budget assistance, tag sale, and some budget priorities) were tabled for future meetings to allow members time to gather quotes and finalize logistics.
The commission also confirmed it will participate in the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25 at 1:00 PM; COA members and senior center participants will march together and be invited to a post-parade cookout at the American Legion. The meeting adjourned at 4:09 PM following a motion by R. McGary and a second from D. Greco.
