Law enforcement warns of increased license‑plate thefts in El Rio

Giveons, who introduced himself to the council as the new California Highway Patrol public information officer for the Ventura office and a member of the COPS Team, said he is available as a contact for community safety concerns. Corporal Tyler Brockett of the Oxnard Police Department noted there had been one vehicle theft in the past 28 days and said he serves as the beat coordinator for El Rio West.
The council received the public‑safety update as part of its regular agenda. Helm emphasized that residents should call when crime is happening and stated that the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is not acting as immigration enforcement. No formal motions or changes to patrol strategy were recorded during the meeting.
