Rensselaer Common Council adopts eight resolutions, schedules budget hearing

The Rensselaer Common Council conducted routine business and adopted eight council-sponsored resolutions covering budget amendments, program guidance and event authorization.

Resolution No. 1, described as a 2025–2026 budget amendment for solid waste, was adopted following roll call with the transcript reporting seven in favor and none opposed. Resolution No. 2, a budget amendment for the fire department, was presented and the roll call result is recorded in the transcript as "Seven in favor. One opposed." Resolution No. 3, an additional fire-department budget amendment, was adopted with seven in favor and none opposed.

The council adopted Resolution No. 4 to review and update economic development loan program guidelines and rescind the grant component of the program (roll call: seven in favor). Resolution No. 5 recognized June as Pride Month and passed unanimously. Resolution No. 6 authorized the Wler Boys and Girls Club Carnival for Aug. 22, 2026 at Riverfront Park; the motion was adopted (seven in favor). The council also adopted a resolution to schedule a public hearing on the proposed budget. Resolution No. 8 recognized the Winsler City Police Department with the same American Legion District 3 award and was adopted (seven in favor).

During the meeting the two scheduled public hearings on income limits for persons with disabilities and senior citizens drew no public testimony. Several council members briefly congratulated the police department and reminded residents of the Thursday farmers market and local neighborhood volunteer efforts. The meeting adjourned with the next session scheduled for Wednesday, July 1 at 6:30 p.m.
