School board approves multiple staff appointments and votes to move reorganization meeting; considers lower turf-field fee for district groups

The NIAGARA-WHEATFIELD CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT board approved a slate of personnel appointments and moved a reorganization meeting date, and the superintendent outlined a staff recommendation to reduce turf-field fees for district-affiliated groups.

During the personnel portion of the agenda the board voted to approve candidate appointments presented by administrators: Maline Ernie (fifth-grade long-term substitute), Thomas (Tom) Rodrik (elementary music teacher), Riley Spur (district speech-language pathologist) and Nita Dlippo (school counselor). Each appointment was moved, seconded and carried; in at least one vote an abstention was recorded but the transcript does not list detailed tallies or the names of voters who abstained.

The board also approved a motion to change the annual reorganization meeting from July 1 to July 2 at 6 p.m.

In the superintendent—report, Dan reviewed a draft turf-field usage fee schedule and asked the board to consider reducing the rate for NW-based student and adult groups from $75 per hour to $50 per hour, with a cap of six hours of charge for a single-day event (groups would still pay for required custodial or security staff). He said the recommendation and an auditorium fee schedule would be brought back as action items at the next meeting. The superintendent also noted that the planned ribbon-cutting for the new auditorium is likely to be pushed to August, and that an electric-vehicle bus study update will be included in a future meeting.

No formal ordinance or policy was adopted on field-use fees at this meeting; the board asked staff to return with final documents and a recommendation at the next meeting.
