Council approves claims, cashes ARPA CD and sets employee appreciation event

At its Nov. 1 meeting, the Wymore City Council approved routine minutes and financial items and authorized moving an ARPA certificate of deposit to a higher-yield 12-month account.
Council member Curt Oblinger moved, and Council member Max Allen seconded, to approve the minutes from the prior meeting; the motion carried 4-0. Council member Max Allen moved, seconded by Council member Sue Sapp, to approve claims and payroll except checks #27599 and #27605; that motion also carried 4-0. The council then approved each of the two checks in separate motions: Council member Sue Sapp moved to approve check #27599 with Curt Oblinger seconding; the motion carried 3-0 with Max Allen abstaining. The council approved check #27605 in a separate motion (Sue Sapp moved; Curt Oblinger seconded) with Council member Neil Van Boening recorded as abstaining, 3-0.
Finance business included notice from the bank to Melissa Wach that the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) 24-month CD would mature on Nov. 8 and was currently earning 0.5% interest. The council authorized cashing the maturing 24-month CD and reopening a new 12-month CD at 4.95% (motion by Max Allen, seconded by Sue Sapp; carried 4-0).
The council also approved an employee appreciation meal and list to be held Friday, Dec. 29, with the city closing at noon and allowing alcohol after business hours at the shop. The motion (moved by Max Allen, seconded by Sue Sapp) carried 4-0.
