Town staff presented a request for sealed paving bids to the Select Board on June 17. The specification requires pricing for seven roads with indicated shim and surface depths (primarily 1-inch shim and 1-inch surface of 9.5 mm), aprons at dirt entrances, traffic control and shoulder gravel. Contractors are responsible for measuring each road; bids must be mailed or hand-delivered to the town manager by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. Bids will be opened publicly at the Select Board meeting the same evening.
A resident and construction-industry commenter urged broader advertising (ConstructConnect, Maine AGC) and asked that the town post a public bid tabulation after opening. A consultant recommended structuring one base bid with alternates so the town can select roads consistent with available budget.
Road commissioner Rob Hansen will provide the town's priority list of roads for award consideration after bids are received.
