One resident (speaker 1) said the problem is that many people keep the sticker “in their glove compartment” and do not display it when they arrive, creating delays for attendants. Another attendee (speaker 9) argued that identifying where someone lives by a dump sticker “doesn’t really fly,” citing privacy concerns.
Board members discussed operational alternatives including a larger yellow card, a laminated card on plexiglass, or a sticker placed on the lower-right corner of the front windshield so attendants can see it as vehicles drive up. Clerk (speaker 8) described how attendants position themselves and emphasized visibility; speaker 6 suggested specifying placement on the dashboard’s passenger side if the sticker is not on the window.
Treasurer (speaker 7) warned that noncompliance with transfer-station policy can result in privileges being revoked and, in some cases, the county sheriff being called for criminal trespass when people dump without permission. She said she will draft a policy amendment that specifies dashboard placement as an alternative and present it at the next meeting for the board to consider.
The board did not vote on a formal policy change at this meeting; the discussion concluded with direction to prepare written language for the board’s next session.
