The Toltec School District board moved to adopt a set of updated policy chapters provided by the 'trust' after administrators said the district could no longer access its former ASBA policy set.
Administrators told the board the new chapters had been updated to reflect current law and that district-specific policy language would remain in place where needed. One specific change noted was an adjustment to bereavement leave from five days to four days to reflect the district's shorter school week.
Separately, administrators recommended adopting a new English language arts curriculum because the district's current program no longer meets the state's promotion/readiness criteria in some grades. The board was asked to approve a curriculum committee, chaired by the district's "Dr.," and to ensure the committee's work conforms with open meeting law. The committee will review candidate curricula, advise the board, and schedule any required community input.
A motion to adopt the policy chapters and to approve the curriculum committee was presented and advanced at the meeting.
