District consultant outlines superintendent search, board to circulate anonymous stakeholder survey

Nick Clement, a consultant facilitating the Toltec School District superintendent search, told the board the highest priority is selecting the most qualified candidate and engaging stakeholders.
"The process goal is to be as transparent as possible and to engage stakeholders," Clement said, announcing a leadership-quality survey that will go to district stakeholders and be compiled for the board before screening applicants. Clement said the survey will be anonymous and will ask respondents to name the qualities they want in a superintendent.
The board reviewed a proposed timeline: applications will be accepted through Dec. 20, the board will screen applicants on Jan. 13, and finalist interviews and a community forum are scheduled for Jan. 20, with an optional second interview Jan. 25 if needed.
Administrators also explained the application will include a written-question section for candidates, separate from interview questions, designed to give the board more information while keeping full applications confidential once a person applies.
The board moved and approved motions to proceed with the survey and search steps by voice vote.
Next steps: the district will publish the position profile and survey link, accept applications through the posted deadline, and prepare for the January screening and public forum.
