Toltec board swears in members, approves AR 15-27 resolution and elects president

At its recent meeting, the Toltec School District governing board completed organizational housekeeping: the board swore in two appointed governing board members, approved a teacher-leader resolution and elected a board president.

Two appointees were sworn in and repeated the oath of office to uphold the U.S. and Arizona Constitutions and to discharge the duties of a governing board member. The transcript identifies one appointee as Stephen Cor; a second appointee is referred to in the record as Mr R. Both took the oath during the meeting and were acknowledged with applause.

The board approved Resolution AR 15-27, described in the agenda materials as concerning qualified teacher leaders for the 2024–25 school year; the motion removed two former administrators from the resolution and replaced them with two current administrators. The resolution was approved on a voice vote.

During routine business the board received a finance update noting budget expenditures are on track through December, reserves are building and the district completed a purchase of 325 laptops as part of a four‑year refresh. Facilities staff reported bids and near-term repairs for weatherization and irrigation work; staff expected work to be completed soon. The special education update included a new high-school special education teacher assignment and the return of students from an external placement to district supervision.

Board members also conducted internal elections for board leadership. A nomination for board president was made and accepted; the board voted to elect the nominee by voice vote. The board set its next regular meeting for Feb. 10 and adjourned.
