Toltec board invites three superintendent finalists, schedules interviews and community forum

Toltec School District’s governing board voted to invite three finalists for the district superintendent position and set a schedule for interviews and a community forum. The district’s search consultant told the board that three candidates had been identified and recommended inviting each finalist to an individual one-hour interview with the board and to take part in a one- to 1.5-hour community forum.

The board recorded separate motions to invite each finalist; each motion received a second and passed by voice vote. The consultant recommended that finalists prepare a one-page summary of a 90-day plan in advance, and suggested each finalist be given a district tour while another finalist is interviewed to save time. The consultant said the interview block should allow three hours for interviews plus break time, followed by a community forum.

Board members and the consultant discussed several potential dates and times. Options raised included Saturday, Jan. 25 for community engagement, an evening session Jan. 27 (noted as challenging for logistics), and Jan. 28 or Jan. 30 for interviews and board deliberations. The board directed staff to finalize a schedule and to notify finalists either the same night or the next day.

The motions recorded on the record included an explicit request that finalists submit advance materials and a 90-day plan so the finance team and board could review key priorities during the interview process. The board also confirmed logistics expectations: one-hour interviews per finalist, district tours, and time for deliberation after interviews.
