The River Ridge Community Development District board accepted the resignation of Supervisor James Gilman from Seat 1 (term expiring November 2026) at its Aug. 27, 2024 meeting.
Mrs. Cleo Adams presented Mr. Gilman’s resignation letter. On a motion by Mr. Kurt Blumenthal, seconded by Mr. Robert Twombly, the board voted to accept the resignation. The board discussed outreach to fill the unexpired term and agreed to have Mr. Long and The Meadows’ property owners’ association manager send an e-blast to residents outlining the vacancy, candidate qualifications and instructions to submit a resume or letter of interest before the next meeting. Because this appointment will fill a seat for the unexpired term rather than an election, staff will include candidate materials on the next agenda for consideration.
The district noted that any new appointee must complete required ethics training and disclosure filings (sample Form 1, Guide to the Sunshine Amendment, Code of Ethics for Public Officers and Employees and Form 8B for voting conflicts). The board deferred administration of the Oath of Office and related materials to a later meeting package.
