The Dolores County Board of Commissioners voted on Sept. 2, 2025 to appoint two nominees to the West Cemetery board and approved a small budget transfer to county social services.
During the meeting, commissioners moved to appoint Steve Gotcher (listed in the motion as Mr. Steve Gotcher/Garter) and Dennis to the West Cemetery board. Commissioners asked staff to obtain brief written statements from each appointee for the county record; the board also discussed which existing member should serve as the single alternate as required by the cemetery bylaws. The motion to appoint the two nominees carried by voice vote.
Separately, the board considered Resolution No. 09-25-01, a transfer of $500 from the Clara Muslim trust fund to the county social services budget. A motion to approve the resolution passed unanimously. The resolution was described in the meeting as a routine fund transfer to support social services operations.
The board recorded no opposition to either action. Staff said they would collect written statements from the new cemetery board members and complete publication or filing steps for the resolution.
The board moved on to other items after completing the appointments and the small budget transfer.
