Granbury council praises staff after beach, utility and arts projects; finance team wins award

Granbury — The Granbury City Council on June 16 publicly thanked city employees for several recent projects and an industry award, highlighting efforts to reopen the city beach, complete overnight utility work on Highway 377 and install new public art.

Mayor Pro Tem led the recognitions, noting that 150 tons of fresh sand were added to Granbury City Beach to reopen the amenity ahead of the busy summer season and that Parks and Recreation, Water and Street departments collaborated on the effort. "They completed the project ahead of schedule," the council said, asking the audience to applaud the crews.

Council members also recognized members of the Water Department for their work on a Highway 377 utility relocation project and emergency leak repairs. Officials said crews worked overnight "beginning at 9:00 p.m. and continued till 6:00 a.m.," returning to regular duties the following morning to minimize daytime service interruptions.

The council highlighted a new "Out of the Box" signal-box art installation coordinated with the Cultural Arts Commission. The piece, "Lone Rider's Horizon," was created by artist Jeremy Serna and is sponsored by Vestry Corporation; city staff said three additional signal-box installations are planned.

Finally, the council recognized Ava Gregory, director of finance, and the finance department for receiving a Government Finance Officers Association award for the 2025 budget and noted the city's public-facing summary of the audit and budget materials on the city website.

Councilors framed the recognitions as acknowledgments of teamwork and community service, and they encouraged residents to visit the beach and attend upcoming arts and remembrance events.
