Lake City council approves street abandonment, records disposal and appointments

During its Jan. 20, 2025 session the Lake City Council approved a package of administrative actions and appointments, each recorded as unanimous votes.
Councilmember Brenda Hutcheson moved to abandon the proposed Cobean Blvd. south of the fire department; Councilmember Jason Garner seconded and the motion passed 6-0. The minutes record that the council also voted to dispose of nonpermanent city records dating from 2006 through 2013 after a motion by Councilmember Harmony Cash and a second from Councilmember Kasey Eakins; that motion carried 6-0.
The council received two applications for the Lake City Volunteer Fire Department from Brett Pilgrim and Johnny Hildebrand. Councilmember Hutcheson moved to accept both applicants; Councilmember Jay Davis seconded, and the appointments were approved 6-0.
Mayor Cameron Tate requested renewal of the Vehicle Lease Agreement for the mayor and the city clerk for 2025, stating the city agrees to lease their personal vehicles to the city for the sum of one dollar. Councilmember Harmony Cash moved to renew the agreement and Councilmember Kasey Eakins seconded; the motion passed 6-0.
Separately, the council approved the proposed 2025 Craighead County Solid Waste Disposal Authority budget on a motion from Councilmember Hutcheson seconded by Councilmember Jason Garner; the minutes record the vote as 6-0. Daniel Haynes, identified in the minutes as Park Commissioner, announced a ballpark clean-up day scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The council adjourned after completing the listed agenda items.
