Councilmember Brenda Hutcheson moved to buy the vehicle for $110,000 from Pend Orielle Fire District pending inspection; Councilmember Jay Davis seconded and the motion passed 5–0. The motion specified that the General Fund would provide a $25,000 down payment, the Fire District would provide a $25,000 down payment, and the remaining balance would be financed with payments to be made from the General Fund.
Chief Hunter Timms described the engine the department had identified and provided the council the details that led to the recommendation to pursue that specific apparatus. The council discussed the financing approach and the condition contingency; the purchase is subject to a satisfactory inspection by the city.
The approval commits the city to the outlined financing plan; council members did not record any dissent during the vote. The next procedural step is completion of the inspection and execution of financing paperwork arranged by city staff.
