Lake City council approves minutes and appointments, announces farmers’ market and sewer plant update

At its March 17 meeting, the Lake City Council unanimously approved the minutes of the Feb. 17 meeting, confirmed two appointments to the Lake City Housing Authority Board and heard announcements about the sewer plant and a seasonal farmers’ market.
Councilmember Brenda Hutcheson moved and Councilmember Jay Davis seconded a motion to accept the minutes from the Feb. 17, 2025 meeting as written; the motion passed 6-0. Councilmember Kasey Eakins moved and Councilmember Jake Emery seconded a motion to appoint Sue Gurley and Angie Love to the Lake City Housing Authority Board; that motion passed unanimously, 6-0.
Mayor Cameron Tate provided an update on the city’s sewer plant, reporting that equipment has been moved into place and that the city expects to begin breaking ground soon. Councilmember Kasey Eakins announced a farmers’ market to be held at the ballpark beginning in June and running through September on the second Saturday of each month; the vendor fee will be $10 per vendor and proceeds will go to local food banks.
The council set its next regular meeting for April 21, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., and adjourned after a final motion by Councilmember Hutcheson with a second from Councilmember Davis.
