The Lake City Council on March 17 adopted a Standard Operating Policy and Guidelines handbook for the Fire Department and delayed a separate decision on purchasing a new fire truck.
Fire Chief Hunter Timms told the council the department needs a new truck; after brief discussion, Councilmember Kasey Eakins moved and Councilmember Jay Davis seconded a motion to table consideration of the purchase and how to fund it until the next council meeting. The motion passed unanimously, 6-0.
Bryan Wells distributed the proposed policy handbook to council members. Councilmember Brenda Hutcheson moved and Councilmember Jason Garner seconded a motion to adopt the Standard Operating Policy and Guidelines handbook for the Fire Department; that motion also passed unanimously, 6-0.
The council did not specify funding options for the fire truck at the meeting. The matter was tabled for further consideration at the next regular session, allowing time for follow-up on costs and financing. No votes were taken on procurement or budget amendments during this meeting.
