Ulen delays entrance-sign work until snow clears; board narrows logo and layout choices

Contractors for Ulen’s entrance-sign project returned to re-mark locations after utility locates and adjusted the foundation positions to avoid underground gas and water lines, the board was told. The sign bases are in place and the contractor will reschedule digging for foundations once snow and frozen ground conditions permit.
Board members discussed logistics for excavated material and asked the contractor (Carrie) to confirm how much dirt will be produced and whether the town can reuse suitable material in a nearby entryway feature. Members noted the foundation holes will be roughly four feet square and will require backfill when the structures are set.
The board reviewed logo mockups and typefaces. Members favored a slightly more formal serif-style font over the original ampersand-based logo and debated whether to insert a connector between the club and town names. Several members said they preferred writing out 'A and D' or omitting a connector entirely rather than using an ampersand to keep the sign formal.
Work on the sign was deferred to February when the contractor can dig foundations; the board asked staff to identify potential dump sites for spoil and to ask the contractor for a firm dirt-volume estimate before scheduling.
