Tonto Basin carnival nets about $25,644; Kiwanis, SRP and local donors credited

The Tonto Basin Elementary District (4215) board reviewed results from a recent school carnival and reported roughly $25,644.50 in gross proceeds before subtracting carnival expenditures and a referenced "purchase of the guns," for which no further detail or amounts were provided.

Board members highlighted ticket sales (418 tickets at $20 each, about $8,300), raffle proceeds including a $4,300 fire-pit raffle and combined raffle totals of $12,660, an auction that raised $4,035, and various booth and sales receipts (hot dogs $784; cakewalk $566; wristbands $1,905; bull ride $124). Major donations included Kiwanis ($1,000), SRP ($2,000), Chamber ($1,000), ABC Pediatrics ($500), Rambo ($250), Curt RV ($250), Desert Community ($200) and Western Garage, which donated $775 to cover tickets so all kids could attend.

The board noted that some donations and ticket proceeds totalled $5,511 in discrete checks that will be given to Kiwanis on Friday and that Western Garage’s contribution allowed students who otherwise could not attend to participate. The board said carnival expenditures and the unspecified "purchase of the guns" will be subtracted from the gross total; no line-item expense detail or purchaser was provided during the meeting.

Checks related to the carnival will be delivered to Kiwanis, and administration will provide additional accounting as expenses are reconciled. The board acknowledged volunteers, including Michelle Cooper, who helped keep booths staffed, and thanked community partners for their contributions.
