The Tonto Basin Elementary District (4215) School Board on Nov. 10 directed district administration to meet with staff from the Arizona Auditor General to plan corrective actions following a recent performance audit.
The board reviewed the audit findings and the administration’s written replies. Superintendent Mr. Ketchum said community and staff support has been "overwhelming," and the district will use that support while preparing for the Auditor General’s return visit in February to assess whether recommendations are implemented, in progress, or resolved.
A consultant from Heinfield and Meach, Eugene, was available by phone during the meeting but the board chose not to call him. Administration will meet next week with "Natalie" from the Auditor General’s office to develop a plan ahead of the six-month follow-up. The board also noted the annual compliance audit typically concludes by March 31 and asked administration to confirm procurement and scheduling details related to that timeline.
The action leaves the audit findings public and directs administration to prepare Q&A materials for community review and to make the audit report available at the school. The board set no additional formal deadlines beyond the Auditor General’s planned revisit in February.
