Council appoints David Baltz as emergency services head, postpones two nuisance hearings

The Broken Bow City Council appointed David Baltz as Emergency Services Department Head during its Oct. 8 meeting and thanked him for his work setting up ALS services in recent months.
Earlier in the meeting City Attorney Jason White and Greg Barker confirmed Barker’s request to meet in closed session "for the protection of his character and personal reputation." The council voted to adjourn into closed session at 6:55 p.m., reconvened at 7:41 p.m., and then took formal action on related agenda items as appropriate.
After returning to open session the council voted to omit the public hearings for nuisance properties at 118 S. 15th Ave and 139 S. 14th Ave and postponed action for 30 days; those hearings and any actions were rescheduled for the Nov. 12, 2024 council meeting. All recorded votes on these items were aye by Councilmembers Russ Smith, Luke Wassom and Paul Holland.
