Mayor Valerie Mockus opened the hearing at 5:30 p.m. and noted Council President Randy Wolf and Councilmembers Annelle Porter, Jerry Carpenter, Andrea Chapman, Stacy Stoner and Kenney Nauer were present. Economic & Community Development Director Brittany Misner told council the application includes five parcels and that a map and parcel details were provided to members for review.
"We are looking to rezone the property adjacent to our current location from R1 Residential to GC General Commercial," Mayor Valerie Mockus said. Misner confirmed the request covers multiple parcels and that there had been internal discussion about the exact land included in the application.
Connie Klema, who identified herself as representing the applicant, said the rezoning request "is in accordance with the 2024 Village Comprehensive Plan." Klema offered to answer questions; Mayor Mockus asked councilmembers if they had any questions and there were none.
No members of the public offered comments during the hearing. The Planning & Zoning Board’s recommendation to approve the rezoning was placed on the record; the council did not take a formal vote on the rezoning during this meeting.
Council President Randy Wolf moved to adjourn at 5:44 p.m.; Councilmember Andrea Chapman seconded. "A roll call vote was taken with all Councilmembers present voting in favor," the minutes state. The minutes were attested as on file by Mayor Valerie Mockus and Chief Fiscal Officer Deborah Morgan.
