During the Dec. 16 special meeting, Superintendent Mr. Ketchem reported a set of planned facilities and maintenance actions for Tonto Basin School: interior and exterior doors will be painted, the adult restroom door will be replaced, and other doors will be adjusted for proper operation. He said bids are being received for gym heaters and coolers and that the facility board granted emergency approval to proceed; eventual air-conditioning installation was described as a future plan. Plumbing repairs to fixtures in the boys' and girls' bathrooms are scheduled to take place during the Christmas break.
Mr. Ketchem also outlined recent community support: the Kiwanis Club donated 26 hams for the school's Christmas dinner (about six were used at the dinner and the remainder distributed to students), organized Christmas shopping for students and used $1,500 of club funds to buy additional gifts. Bass Pro donated items including fishing poles; the transcript notes a local guide sponsored by Bass Pro helped facilitate the donation. Kathleen Manning told the board that gifts and donations will be added to the board agenda beginning in January for formal acknowledgment or acceptance.
The superintendent framed these as operational and community-support items rather than new policy decisions. No formal vote was required on the maintenance work during this meeting; the board recorded the report and proceeded to personnel and finance actions.
