Hebron water superintendent reports sand seam at Well #7; hydrant maintenance scheduled

Water Superintendent Jason Figgins told the Village of Hebron Council on Aug. 14 that the village is seeing higher summer water demand and that testing on Well #7 found an extremely fine sand seam. To address the issue, Figgins said a Muni-pack screen will be installed inside the existing screen at the bottom of the well to slow the water velocity; the well driller agreed to cover the cost and install the screen because they believe they did not provide a non-sand-forming well. Figgins said a similar issue was found previously with Well #4.
Figgins provided examples from the village Geographic Information System and said the Canal Crossing waterline extension is awaiting testing, chlorination, and sampling before it can be finalized. He also said the hydrant maintenance and flushing program will begin at the end of the month and that the village will publicize the schedule for residents.
The update was informational; no formal council action was required beyond staff follow-up to complete well remediation and to publicize the hydrant program.
