Granville rejects Church Street water-main bids after funding shortfall

The Granville Village Board voted on May 4 to reject all bids received in February for a planned replacement of a section of the Church Street water main, citing a shortfall between the bids and the amount awarded through NBRC funding.
Mayor Paul Labas told the board that the February sealed bids exceeded the Village's NBRC award. Trustees discussed the funding gap and the unlikelihood of additional funds becoming available in the next several months. Trustee Paul Garrone moved to reject all bids with the option to rebid should new funding materialize; Trustee Denise Davies seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The board did not authorize an alternative funding source at the meeting. Clerk-Treasurer Rick Roberts and village staff will be responsible for pursuing additional grants or rebid options if the board chooses to revisit the project.
