Pima council adopts drainage ordinance, approves intent for new fee schedule

The Pima Town Council voted unanimously July 9 to adopt Ordinance 2024-05, an amendment to Town Code Chapter 12, section 12-5-1.C, concerning engineered drainage and retention plans.
Public Works Director Jimmie Lofgreen told the council the measure was on its second reading and that there were "no recommendations for changes." Vice Mayor Sherrill Teeter moved to approve the ordinance; Councilmember C.B. Fletcher seconded. The motion carried unanimously with five councilmembers voting yes.
The council also discussed and adopted a Notice of Intent for a new town fee schedule. Manager Vernon Batty presented the proposed intent and, after no council changes were recommended, Vice Mayor Sherrill Teeter moved to adopt the notice; Mayor Brian Paull seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Brian Paull read the heading of Ordinance 2024-09 on first reading for proposed parcels to be annexed; that item was introduced but not acted on at the meeting. Earlier in the session, the council approved minutes from a June 19 special meeting by unanimous vote.
The drainage ordinance alters town code language concerning engineered drainage and retention plans and was approved by the council without amendment. The fee-schedule action at this meeting was an adoption of intent; staff will proceed with the administrative steps required for public notice and any follow-on hearings or adjustments. The council adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
