The Zionsville Community Schools Board of Trustees approved several administrative and operational items on Dec. 8 by unanimous votes.
Consent agenda: The board accepted minutes from Nov. 10 and approved a large consent package that included personnel separations, new hires, transfers and substitute listings; out-of-state and overnight field trips for spring 2026; donations including a 33.2-acre land donation from the ZCS Building Corp.; ECA expenditures; the October 2025 financial report; and claims totaling $11,387,033.94 and payroll of $5,721,258.99. Mrs. Jennifer Valentine moved to accept the consent agenda and Dr. Christy Wessel-Powell seconded. The motion passed 4-0.
Photography services: Assistant Superintendent of Operations Matthew Doublestein recommended authorizing a five-year agreement with Cripe Photography for ZCHS photography services based on sealed bids and evaluation; the recommendation noted no direct cost to the district and cited benefits to families and local-vendor advantages. Mr. Michael Berg moved to authorize leadership to enter into the agreement; Dr. Wessel-Powell seconded and the motion passed 4-0. The board asked staff to monitor service quality and vendor flexibility.
UPS replacement: Chief Technology Officer Dan Layton reported the district’s Vertiv Liebert in-line UPS that protects the main server bank is near end-of-life, discontinued for parts, and recommended replacement to avoid potential equipment loss and extended downtime. The proposed replacement system costs $62,490 and would be paid from remaining 2025 technology plan budgets. Mrs. Valentine moved to accept the recommendation and Dr. Wessel-Powell seconded; the motion passed 4-0.
Parks Board appointment: Superintendent Rebecca Coffman recommended appointing Dan Layton to the Zionsville Board of Parks and Recreation for a one-year term as allowed by IC 36-1.5-4-44 and IC 36-10-3, replacing Kris Barksdale whose term limits were met. Mrs. Valentine moved to appoint Mr. Layton; Dr. Wessel-Powell seconded and the motion passed 4-0.
The meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
