Wolcottville — The Town Council on Oct. 14 approved adding a signature line to all town-issued permits that places financial responsibility on permit holders to restore town property if their project causes damage.
The minutes state the added line will notify permit holders that they are financially responsible for repair and that any repairs must be inspected by a town employee. Vice President Steven Cords moved to add the line item to all permits; Council Member Jeff Sorg seconded. The motion carried with all in favor.
Council members described the change as shifting the financial burden for damage caused by permit work to the permit holder and ensuring town oversight through inspection. No amendment or additional enforcement procedure was recorded in the minutes.
