Wynnedale pursues CCMG road grant, plans traffic counts and a new stop sign

Wynnedale Town Council members said Feb. 11 that the town has submitted a County Municipal Grant (CCMG) application to pay for road repairs and will apply for a second CCMG award in July to accelerate work on North Wynnedale.
Ann Hildner, the meeting chair and council member, told colleagues that the initial CCMG application is now pending and that North Wynnedale may require Americans with Disabilities Act ramps depending on the grant scoring; she said she will report back with more details. The minutes note the town is waiting to hear the outcome of the current submission and plans the second application to move up the repair schedule.
The council also discussed traffic-safety steps tied to the road program. Members said the town’s liability insurance will cover participation in the LTAP equipment loan program; the machines would be used to count vehicles and measure speeds in South Wynnedale. No firm deployment date was set, though late spring or summer was discussed.
On site controls, the council indicated the town can install a stop sign at the back entrance to South Wynnedale where 42nd Street tees into Roland and Wynnedale; the minutes record the council’s agreement that a stop sign is permissible but do not record a formal vote or an installation schedule. Council members also said there is no update yet on whether “spinners” can be installed on existing stop signs at 42nd and Knollton.
The town plans to include information about road repairs and schedules in an upcoming Wynnedale newsletter. The council set no new deadlines at the Feb. 11 meeting; members said they will provide follow-up details as grant scoring and equipment scheduling progress.
