Administrators report grants, programs and events; district to host county basketball tournament

District administrators used the meeting’s reports section to outline recent programs, grants and events.

Mr. Hanson delivered the corporation report, thanking the community for supporting families in need and announcing that the district will transition to a newly approved diploma track. He noted the opening of a smart manufacturing lab at Ivy Tech in Peru, reported that the YMCA is reorganizing Special Olympics activities for Miami County, said audits are ongoing, and confirmed the Early Literary Achievement Grant was released last week. He also provided a staffing update, mentioned possible projects for 2025, and announced the district’s December Aim High Award went to Lesley Parson; Riley Kling was recognized as Student Rotarian.

Mrs. Danielle Galbraith summarized elementary activities, including the Winter Wonderland event (PTO-funded Silly Safari), several end-of-semester activities, and a volunteer visit from four Grissom Air Force Base personnel who read to Pre-K and kindergarten students. The Purdue Extension Office’s annual report recognized North Miami for its elementary programming, the minutes state.

Karise Kabage reported on middle- and high-school activity: the district held a FAFSA night for parents and students, the fall play and band/choir concerts concluded recent programming, fundraisers were completed, finals begin the following day, and North Miami will host the Miami County Basketball Holiday Tournament this year. High School Student Council President Zeph Reshkus provided an overview of winter sports, student activities and recent FFA contest results.
