North Miami board elects Dayrn Sturch president, David Floyd vice president

The North Miami Board of School Trustees on July 16 elected Dayrn Sturch as board president and David Floyd as vice president for the 2024–25 year, following nominations and seconding motions from fellow trustees.
Sturch was nominated for president by Trustee Stan Hudson and seconded by Trustee Mark Deardorff; the motion to close nominations was made by Trustee Amy Eckrote and reported as carried 4-0. Hudson nominated Floyd for vice president, Eckrote seconded, and that motion was reported carried 4-0. Hudson nominated Eckrote for board secretary (seconded by Deardorff), and Eckrote nominated Hudson to serve as assistant secretary (seconded by Deardorff); each nomination was recorded as carried 4-0.
The leadership elections followed routine procedural business. The board approved executive session and regular meeting minutes and voted to approve claims; those motions were recorded as carried 5-0. No emergency revisions to the agenda were recorded.
The board set its next regular meeting for Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the district office.
The meeting adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
