Parks board signs off on fundraiser license, kiosk wraps, rental language, T-ball and routine finances

At its June 17 meeting the Michigan City Parks and Recreation Board approved several operational items and routine financial measures.
The board moved to approve a Gardena Park fundraiser license for We Are In Recovery (W.E.R.E.) for a barbecue cook-off; founder Donnie Allison described the event schedule and the board confirmed participants will sign the waiver and release forms in the packet. The motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
The board also approved a sponsorship-based wrap proposal for Washington Park kiosks and carts intended to improve visibility and protect equipment, and approved updated rental agreement language that tightens misconduct and negligence clauses. Additionally, the board approved continuing the fall T-ball program for 4–6-year-olds at the $45 registration fee.
From a finance perspective, Mrs. Barr of the Department of Finance presented the claims docket: municipal funds $106,833.95 and golf petty cash $2,618.95 for a total of $109,452.90, which the board approved. Payroll number 12 (May 26–June 6 pay period) totaling $128,683.59 was approved as presented. Gifts and donations (Susan French Zoo sponsorship $63.50), zoo endowment bills of $571.25 and credit card charges totaling $5,949.60 were also approved by voice votes.
The meeting concluded after brief liaison reports and an opportunity for public comment; no additional substantive public comments were recorded.
