Board hears summer-school update: several third-graders pass I-Read, high-school credit recovery reported

Administrators and teachers told the North Knox School Corp board that a two-week summer program using small groups produced measurable gains: Matt reported that nine third-graders and one second-grader passed the I-Read retest after remediation and retesting opportunities.
Emily Morland and other staff credited small-group instruction and one-on-one testing for the results. At the high school level, staff ran a credit-recovery program attended by roughly 24–26 students; administrators reported about 23 recovered credits, including some seniors who completed requirements to earn diplomas.
Board members thanked staff for the results and recognized employees who led the programs. The meeting record also included an update that high school nurse Jessica Davis will need further back surgery and may work half days at the start of the school year while she recovers; board members asked the community to keep Kevin in their thoughts after an unrelated on-the-job accident.
