The Wolcottville Town Council on July 1 approved a set of routine municipal actions including building permits, sewer-billing adjustments, festival funding and authorization for a vehicle transfer, while tabling a resident's drainage complaint for inspection.
On motions by Vice President Steven Cords and seconded by Council Member Jeff Sorg, the council approved several building permits presented by Utility Clerk Tiffany Sprunger (represented by Clerk-Treasurer Heidi Huff). Approved permits included a 6-foot wooden privacy fence at 310 S. Main (Danny Rivera), exterior remodel work at 102 E. County Line (Ricardo Mariano) and an enclosed carport at 208 N. Main (Michael Marter).
The council also approved sewer-billing adjustments: $38.29 to 100 E. County Line for pool filling and $20.41 to 204 W. Race Street for a broken faucet; adjustments are to be taken from the sewer portion of customers' monthly utility bills.
Marshal Nathan Sprunger received authority to submit a State Fire Marshal permit and pay associated fees for the Taylor Park festival scheduled for Aug. 30, 2025 (a 2024 fee was noted at $278). The council approved Wolcottville officers assisting a teen driving event at the LaGrange County fairgrounds on July 12. Council members authorized Town Attorney Kurt Bachman to draft a resolution allowing the Police Department to transfer a 2015 Dodge Ram to the Wastewater Department; that motion passed unanimously.
The Wolcottville Improvement Committee was authorized to spend a $1,000 donation from the LaGrange County Community Foundation to pay for bounce houses and portable toilets at the Wolcottville Mill Festival. The council also approved two staff to attend the Indiana League of Clerk-Treasurers training Aug. 10' 14 in French Lick and to allow office coverage by Brenda Conley during that time.
Resident Robert Miller raised a drainage complaint about a clogged culvert at 406 E. Wabash Street that he said causes flooding onto his property and into his home; Council President Dean Domer tabled the request for further inspection by town staff. The meeting adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
