Wingate council accepts December financials, approves claims and tables pavilion permit

The Town of Wingate council approved its December financial reports and payment of claims at the Jan. 21 meeting and handled several routine procedural items.
Council President Kyle Campbell moved to accept the December financial reports, the bank reconciliation and fund report, and to approve payment of claims dated Jan. 21, 2025, totaling $61,015.13, and a utility service adjustment for $54.92. Council Member Andrew Lorenz seconded the motion, which carried as recorded in the meeting minutes.
Earlier in the meeting Campbell moved to table approval of the December meeting minutes; Andrew Lorenz seconded and that motion also carried. Consideration of accepting a state permit for the park pavilion was tabled and postponed until February.
The meeting also included routine departmental updates: Town Maintenance Supervisor Jay Busse reported on snow removal and coordination with the Indiana Department of Transportation about a stop sign, and Coal Creek Fire & Rescue reported 16 emergency calls in December, including 10 medicals and six fires. Town Attorney Stu Weliever reminded council members about a nuisance enforcement timeline for property owner Ron Gard, who must comply with an Agreed Entry by May 1 or face liens and other enforcement actions.
With no further business, the council adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
