Wingate hears updates on park pavilion, potential land donation and INDOT repaving plans

At the Dec. 10 meeting Phil Bane of the Park Improvement Committee said an architectural firm is finalizing a design for a park pavilion and expects to submit plans by the end of the week; once approved DES Engineering will prepare the bid advertisement.
Bane also reported a potential donation of 1–3 acres west of the park to address drainage, noting the property owner is currently in Germany; he said he will update the council when more information is available.
Town Maintenance Supervisor Jay Busse informed the council that the Indiana Department of Transportation plans work on State Highway 25 in 2026 that includes repaving, upgrades to bring sidewalks into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and intersection improvements at N. State Road 55 and State Road 25 at Vine Street. Busse said the project will require the town to coordinate utility placements and possibly remove or relocate meters.
Coal Creek Fire & Rescue Chief Darren Forman reported six calls in November (four in Wingate, two in New Richmond) and announced a Pancake Breakfast and breakfast with Santa on Dec. 15; the council approved $1,000 for additional Christmas lighting.
