Poseyville Town Council approves routine dockets, banking moves and safety contracts; tables large concrete bids

The Poseyville Town Council completed a series of routine and administrative actions at its Sept. 10 meeting and moved several items for follow‑up review.
The council unanimously approved the Aug. 13 minutes, the claims docket and the payroll allowance docket. It also approved the August 2024 bank reconciliation and authorized a one‑time adjustment to utility accounts, a change Clerk‑Treasurer Jodie Rankin requested to correct recurring roll‑over adjustments left from prior administrations. The clerk said State Board of Accounts auditor Mitch Wilson advised the new clerk that such a one‑time adjustment is permissible.
Council members approved new gas tracker rates after Diana Powell presented the updated figures. The council accepted a two‑year dental renewal option and recorded plans to move town banking to First Bank by Dec. 1, 2024.
On procurement and safety items, the council reviewed two concrete bids for work at the fire station and community center (Hoehn Concrete Inc. bid $81,600 for the fire station; Kihn Concrete Construction bid $61,116 for the fire station). Because the clerk needed additional time to confirm available funds, President Justin Rutledge recommended tabling the quote awards; Councilman Mike Baehl moved to table the item, seconded by Councilman Randall "Randy" Rankin, and the council voted unanimously to table.
Separately, Councilman Rankin solicited quotes for yearly fire‑safety inspections and hood services for the community center; the council accepted Tri‑State Fire Protection’s yearly inspection quote of $432 (Tri‑State $432; BCS Fire & Security $706; Koorsen Fire & Security $808). The clerk will follow up on hood cleaning and flue inspection pricing and report back in October.
The council also moved to continue working with Jim Higgins of LWG for annexation and financial planning assistance.
All motions that carried were passed by roll‑call votes with Council President Justin Rutledge, Councilman Mike Baehl and Councilman Randy Rankin recorded as voting yes. The meeting adjourned at 6:19 p.m.
