Zionsville trustees approve 2026 facility usage fee schedule, require liability insurance and allow waivers

Zionsville Community Schools' Board of Trustees approved the district's 2026 Facility Usage Fee Schedule on Feb. 9 to standardize costs for non-district weekend and evening events.
Assistant Superintendent of Operations Matt Doublestein said the 2026 schedule updates fee tiers to reflect additional spaces and revised utility calculations and continues the district's 2009 practice of charging outside groups at a cost-neutral rate consistent with policy 7510. He said fees are intended to recapture utility, wear-and-tear and cleanup costs and to provide revenue self-help to support operations.
Board members asked how changes would affect existing contracts and whether organizations have adequate insurance. Doublestein responded that quoted costs for upcoming uses would not be adjusted retroactively and that organizations must provide liability insurance before using ZCS facilities. Jennifer Valentine moved to approve the schedule and authorize the superintendent or designee to waive certain fees; Dr. Wessel-Powell seconded and the motion passed 5–0.
